Internal Consultant / Project Manager

Anna is an internal consultant / project manager at Vattenfall Group.

Anna manages group-wide projects concerning the application portfolio and the guiding principles of IT. The complexity of this task is increased by the need to have employees from different fields, business units and cultures working together to achieve common solutions, across wide geographical regions.

Anna is, however, first and foremost the strategic advisor on Usability related issues for the CIO function at Vattenfall Group. This work entails creating awareness about usability and establishing methods of incorporating end-users in all IT initiatives. Vattenfall Group runs SAP and Anna has extensive experiences in the challenges of creating well adapted IT solutions from a standard business implementation.

Anna holds a Master's degree in Business from Stockholm University and a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Systems Sciences / IT-management from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.

Working strategically with usability

Wednesday, November 8th, 11.00

Category: Advanced

Track: Project Management

Case: Vattenfall Group

If a website is difficult to use or understand, the visitor simply leaves. There are plenty of options on the Internet, and the word travels fast.

If an application you use at work is difficult to use or understand the same seldom applies. There is usually more at stake for the individual user, and the options are often fewer. Frustration tends to build up, and after all, you do know what you are supposed to do, and you most certainly know when you are supposed to have it done. The tool simply doesn't help you in doing the task at hand.

The problem is usually solved, on a short time basis, with some help from co-workers, manuals, or post-it notes. However, on a long-term basis, do we really know what bad usability does to our business and our work force?

Anna will speak about the journey made at Vattenfall Group when it comes to creating awareness and understanding about usability. She will present a few projects; the methods used and insights on the balancing act between frustrated end-users, IT people, strategy and supplier relations.

Joint session with case presented by Henrik Olsen from GUUUI.
