Mix and match: A pragmatic technical strategy

Thursday, November 9th, 11.00

Category: Intermediate

Track: Technology

Case: Leiden University

At Leiden University just about any kind of content repository and software system exists to fill the needs of various organisational units within the university. This has led to an enormous diversification and segregation of technologies, tools and platforms. Without a higher level strategy to manage all that, our challenge was to unify most of those things to effectively use the already existing repositories and to be able to manage the content more effectively.

This presentation focuses on the technical (and some non-technical) issues, pitfalls and lessons learned we encountered during this process, in conjunction with discussing the integration of various technologies that led to a more manageable environment.

Joint session with case presented by Werner Knudsen from IBM.
